Le Mans. The 90th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans takes place in France this weekend. The legendary long-distance event, which is part of the FIA WEC season, is considered one of the most famous races in the world. This year, 186 drivers from 27 nations will compete for the coveted winner’s trophy on the Circuit des 24 Heures.
Christoph Ulrich shares the cockpit again with Simon Mann (USA) and Toni Vilander (FIN) in the LMGTE Am. Ferrari has won 15 pole positions in the class in the past. This statistic should be expanded.
“The 24h of Le Mans, the absolute highlight of the season and probably also of a racing career!
Yes, there is probably not much to say about the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the grande dame of motorsport. A magical race that will be held for the 90th time this year and that after 2 years of pandemic can finally take place again under normal conditions. According to the organizers, around 350,000 spectators should find their way to Le Mans.
Le Mans is completely different from any other race, the event starts on Thursday a week before. The scrutineering, the technical inspection in the center of Le Mans, already attracts thousands of spectators. As a driver you are always busy with something for 10 days and you can never really prepare as well as you would like. The ultra-fast route takes the normal country road and connects the villages of Arnage, Mulsanne and Le Mans. Surreal in today’s world and a real adventure.
We are all really looking forward to the race and definitely want to see the checkered flag on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.!” says Christoph Ulrich highly motivated.
You can follow the race events via the FIA WEC app or live on TV.
