The #21 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE showed a strong performance at the 6 Hours of Monza. An incident with an opponent prevented the podium. The trio finished the race on seventh place.

- P4 in qualifying
- P7 in the 6 Hours of Monza
Monza. For Christoph Ulrich, Toni Vilander and Simon Mann it was the fourth FIA WEC weekend of the season. In Monza, not far from Milan, the Swiss contested his home race, so to speak. With an excellent fourth place in qualifying, the trio was highly motivated at the 5.793 kilometer track.
All signs pointed to a podium finish in front of the Ferrari home crowd, but luck was not on the side of the AF Corse car. An incident with a rival denied the trio the chance to finish in the top three. The 488 GTE with the number 21 was still able to finish the race after 177 laps on 7th place in the LMGTE AM category.
“Of course, P7 is not the result we were working towards. After qualifying for fourth place on the grid, we naturally wanted more. I was always able to stay in the top 4 and had great duels when shortly before the end of my double stint, an LMP2 opponent pushed me into the gravel bed due to the other driver’s misjudgment. That cost us too much time, which of course we couldn’t make up for. Simon Mann and Toni Vilander also showed a strong race and unfortunately P7 was the maximum. Our entire team, all drivers, mechanics and engineers worked flawlessly throughout all sessions and it’s a shame that we couldn’t get the result that we should have achieved in terms of pace. Now it’s time for the summer break, during which we will, as usual, prepare intensively for the next race in Fuji,” says Christoph Ulrich.
The FIA WEC says goodbye to the summer break. The next event will be held in Fuji on September 11th.
